Segmented slug-flow reactors are increasingly popular for heterogeneous synthesis. Slug formation is a complex process that must be optimized for ideal mass transport. This sensor helps detect slugs in real-time, an invaluable tool when studying slug formation and optimizing slugs. We used in-house printed circuit board manufacturing to rapidly prototype this sensor.
